Net Neutrality Must Be Saved!

The FCC is poised to throw out Net Neutrality, giving ISPs the ability to give some users better access to websites that today are open to everyone equally. They will be able to slow down your surfing speed, while speeding up others' speed. They will be able to block you from going to some websites, while others will have access.

Given the president's propensity to try to control the flow of information, it is critical that we make our voices heard to our legislators to fight this insidious attack on our free Internet.

Unfortunately, the Congressman presently serving in this district is not about to buck the administration. Far from it! He is one of the president's most reliable votes!

Probably the greatest ally we have in Florida is Senator Bill Nelson, and I urge all those who want to keep the Internet free to contact one of his Florida offices, or his Washington office. Otherwise, write to me and I will put my big mouth to work and make sure that all of our voices are heard loud and clear!

Democrat Henry Names Campaign Co-Managers

                                          Kristen Henry                   Karlena Henry

HERNANDO - Jim Henry, a Democratic candidate for U.S. House of Representatives in the 11th Florida district, has appointed two people to co-chair his campaign, including his daughter, who may be the youngest congressional campaign chairman ever.
Kristen Henry, 14, is a freshman at Lecanto High School in the Pre-International Baccalaureate program.
"I took Kristen with me to the Democratic conference in Orlando recently and I was pleased by how engaged she was in the whole process. We attended caucus meetings for LGBTA, environmental issues and the Young Democrats Training Academy," Jim Henry said.
"On top of that, she helped do a phone bank for St. Petersburg Mayor Kriseman, as I did, and she was the one who kept track of the schedule and kept me pointing in the right direction. She was a great help all weekend."
Jim Henry was not surprised Kristen enjoyed the experience.
"I cut my teeth politically being a member of the Massachusetts Coalition for a Democratic Future, serving as First C.D. director for several years in my 20s. It was a great experience, " he said.
Wondering if there had ever been a 14-year-old campaign manager for congress, Jim Henry searched on Google, and found an article about a young man who was just out of high school and managing his first campaign, so he thinks that at 14, Kristen would set the new standard. She will be focusing on recruiting youth to help her father’s campaign.
“We need more than 5,400 good signatures from registered voters in the 11th C.D. to get my name on the ballot next spring. We need all the help we can get to get that done,” Jim Henry said.
Kristen Henry's co-chair will also be a member of his family. Karlena Henry, the candidate's sister, will be focusing on relations with friends, family and allies in Massachusetts.
"Karlena is also an Ada Comstock Scholar at the prestigious Smith College in Northampton, Mass. She said there is a strong Democratic presence at Smith, and she is going to recruit them to work on the campaign. In these days where so many campaign functions can be done online, we will take help wherever it comes, though we still need boots on the ground in the district."
Jim Henry said he will be focusing on recruiting volunteers and eventually some paid staff in Florida.
"We're covering all the bases here. We have a lot of work to do to flip this seat from red to blue, but we are assembling a team to make that happen," he said.

Candidate Releases Reality Based Novel “Worlds Colliding: A Special Antiquity Calais Tale”

HERNANDO – Long before Jim Henry aspired to be U.S. representative in the 11th Florida district, he was an author.
Now, Henry’s literary world and the world of American politics are crashing together in his newest release, Worlds Colliding: A Special Antiquity Calais Tale.
“This book actually started out as a Mother’s Day gift for my mother,” Henry explained. “I finished the rough draft just in time for Mother’s Day and surprised mom with the story. After Mother’s Day, I took another look at it, cleaned it up, and decided I was going to sit on it, in terms of publishing it, because as I wrote it, I was focused on getting it done in time to give to mom.”
In the intervening months, however, Henry started to notice that some of the scenarios he laid out in the plot were unfolding in the real world, particularly in U.S. relations with North Korea.
“I really hope that we are not as close to nuclear war in Trump’s world as we come in the pages of my book. I really freaked myself right the heck out when I wrote that part of the plot,” Henry said.
Henry has spoken with representatives from the Federal Elections Commission to verify that he is not breaking any ethics rules, and learned that it is acceptable to give free copies of the book to people who donate to his campaign.
“Bernie Sanders raised a huge sum of money by collecting $2, $3, etc. The Kindle version of the book retails for $2.99, so I got to thinking that if someone were to donate a few dollars to my campaign, I could give him or her a free copy of the book to say thank you for supporting the campaign. On the other hand, if folks don’t want to donate to the campaign, but they want to read a good book, they can buy the book online, and I can use the sales proceeds in the campaign,” Henry said.
